Celebrating Purim in the East Valley


The community comes alive with the spirit of Purim, often called the Jewish carnival, beginning this weekend and all through next week, which the actual holiday being March 8. Specifically, the East Valley JCC invites the community, especially those with young children, to our Shabbat morning playgroup on Friday, March 9 at 9:30 a.m. Following playgroup, we will join with the Early  Childhood Learning  Center, ages 2-5 for an interactive Purim Shpiel (play) performed by the ECLC staff.

Sunday, March 4

Purim carnival: 10 a.m., Temple Beth Sholom of the East Valley, 3400 N. Dobson Road, Chandler. 480-897-3636. Costumes, Bounce House & Water Slide, Obstacle Course, Dunk Tank, Games, Sno-Cones, Popcorn & Other Snacks. Food will be sold on a cash basis.
Purim celebration: 10 a.m., Megillah reading and Purim spiel; noon-2 p.m., carnival; 2 p.m. Purim spiel. Temple Emanuel of Tempe. 5801 S. Rural Road. 480-838-1414

Wednesday, March 7

Cirque du Purim: 6:30 p.m., Noah’s Chandler, 2100 E. Yeager Drive. Co-sponsored by Chabad of the East  Valley and the East Valley JCC. Entertainment, crafts, games, buffet dinner, and masquerade. Cost: $20 adult, $15 children in advance; $25 adult, $18 children after March 4. 480-855-4333
